Dr Nadia El-Farhan – PhD, MRCP(UK), FRCPath Consultant I have been in post since 2012 and run the Health Board’s Lipid and Metabolic Kidney Stone services. I also run a fortnightly Dynamic Function test clinic and the joint Paediatric Lipid Clinic with Dr Peter Dale. I am the Clinical Lead for Medical Biochemistry, Chair of the Point of Care Testing Committee and a tutor for the MSc in Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of South Wales. My main clinical interests include Cardiovascular Risk Management, Familial Hypercholesterolemia, Primary Hypertriglyceridemia, Hypertriglyceridemia-associated Pancreatitis and Kidney Stone prevention. My PhD thesis explored assay-specific cortisol cut-offs for the short Synacthen test, and I maintain a strong interest in Cortisol Measurement and evaluation of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal axis. My other biochemical interests include Calcium Metabolism, Hyponatraemia, Hypomagnesaemia, Refeeding Syndrome and investigation of Incongruous Biochemical results. Emma Hodgson BSc with Hons Cardiff University, Diploma in Endocrinology South Wales University, Master’s degree Endocrinology I work closely with my Diabetes & Endocrinology Consultant colleagues in the outpatient setting, arranging Dynamic Function Tests and leading Thyroid Nurse Led Clinics. I am available on consultant ward rounds once weekly and I also provide self–management advice for patients and education for healthcare professionals.
